EXCLUSIVE: Medibank Private is poised to reappoint George Patterson Y&R Melbourne to its $15 million creative account, as the group now looks to make a decision on media.

The private health insurer started a review of its creative and media account in March, with current contracts due to expire at the end of this month. AdNews understands George Patterson Y&R Melbourne is in the final stages of contract renewal, although it’s unclear the length of time the new contract is for.

GPY&R Melbourne won the account in 2008, after a final three-way pitch against then-incumbent M&C Saatchi Melbourne and Badjar Ogilvy.

Melbourne agency BoilerRoom also works with Medibank on the creative side. It is unclear if the relationship is affected by the creative review. In 2008, BoilerRoom was able to extend its agreement with Medibank separate to the main creative pitch. BoilerRoom has been working with Medibank since 2005.

Medibank’s media account is held by Mitchell & Partners. When the creative review commenced in March, a source told AdNews that the creative review would be completed first, before Medibank moved onto media.
