MediaCom wins $9m consolidated Slater & Gordon account

EXCLUSIVE: Slater & Gordon has appointed MediaCom to an enlarged $9 million media account, after a pitch involving Starcom and Mitchell & Partners.

Slater & Gordon called the review following its acquisition of law firms Conveyancing Works in 2011 and Trilby Misso in 2010.

While Nielsen has Slater & Gordon's media spend sitting at around $5 million, a source close to the process said the business is worth closer to $9 million after the acquisitions.

Mitchell & Partners was the incumbent on Conveyancing Works and Trilby Misso while MediaCom was the incumbent on Slater & Gordon.

Slater & Gordon general manager of marketing and business development Kalle Amanitides said: “Following a review of our Australian media planning and buying,  we are excited about appointing Mediacom to the  consolidated the Slater & Gordon group nationally.

“The recent  growth of the company, and the expansion of brands operating under the wider group, has meant our media planning has become increasingly complex. Mediacom has demonstrated a strong appreciation of our business objectives and the differentiation points across our of brands, so we look forward to sharpening our buy through the consolidated approach. Mediacom has been servicing the Slater & Gordon brand since 2009, so we’re pleased to expand their involvement across the business.”

The account will be serviced from the agency's Melbourne and Brisbane offices.

Slater & Gordon recently appointed M&C Saatchi to its creative account.

Slater & Gordon's estimated main media spend in the 12 months to April 2012 was $4.5 million, down from $5.3 million in the prior period, according to Nielsen.
