MediaCom is bringing home an Aussie from the UK to take on the newly-created role of chief digital officer.

Joshua Rex is joining the GroupM agency from his previous role as managing director and co-founder of Open Media Technologies in the UK.

Rex, who studied in Sydney, worked as a planner and strategist at Razorfish, Carat and EMEA at MEC, before setting up Open Media Technologies in London in 2008.

He will report to MediaCom Australia CEO Mark Pejic, who said: “We are very excited to bring Joshua on board. We were won over by his in-depth knowledge and his extensive international experience that spans his career to date. We are focused on attracting and securing the brightest talent, and I’m in no doubt that he will make a real difference at MediaCom, and more importantly for our clients.”

Rex added: “After 14 years working abroad, I’m delighted to be coming home to the best job in digital, with the best agency, in the best country in the world. You’ve got to be happy with that!”

Rex will start at MediaCom next Monday.
