Pitching will take on a speed dating format as marketers and agencies get the chance to hone their skills during this year's AdNews Media Sales Summit.

Media Pitchfest is designed to create a fast flow of ideas, insights and information. A Pitch Room will be set up where media, after being presented with a brief, will present directly to marketers and key media agency decision-makers at 'pitch tables'.

Each pitch will last five minutes before pitchers must move on to the next table. Review forms will be completed for each presenter.

The session has been planned by Marcia Raheb, director of ThinkSayDo, in response to the overriding topic at last year's Media Sales Summit: the ongoing disconnect between marketers, agencies and media.

Raheb said: "The overriding question from last year's Summit was, 'How do we stay relevant in this new media landscape?'. That includes salespeople as well as agencies and marketers. And will the machines overtake the human element?

"We expect both agencies and media to leave the hour-long pitching process with new ideas and connections. Agencies have already booked several pitch tables, where they are looking forward to hearing from a range of media channels.”

Nick Behr, general manager of Vizeum, will be hosting one pitch table. “I am an ardent promoter of younger talent in our industry and believe Media Pitchfest will support development of essential pitch, presentation and people skills. Vizeum is very much looking forward to being a part of that development," he said.

Other Pitch Room attendees, along with their teams, will include Peter Horgan from OMD, Ian Perrin from ZenithOptimedia, Katie Rigg-Smith from Mindshare, Jon Chadwick from Maxus, Simon Rush from Razor, John Preston from Match Media and Mat Baxter from UM.

Entry into the Pitch Room is free for media with their AdNews Media Sales Summit tickets, provided they are purchased before early-bird closes this Thursday 17 April.
