Peters Ice Cream has appointed Leo Burnett Melbourne as its creative agency following the company's acquisition by Pacific Equity Partners.

The ice cream umbrella brand changed ownership from Nestlé to Pacific Equity in August last year. Leo Burnett won the account following a pitch. Publicis Mojo Melbourne was the incumbent on the business.

Leo Burnett and Melbourne chief executive Melinda Geertz had previously worked with Peters Ice Cream when it was owned by Pacific Dunlop. It was bought by Nestlé in 1995.

Brands under the Peters Ice Cream stable includes Peters Original, Light & Creamy, Connoisseur, Maxibon, Drumstick, Frosty Fruits, Billabong and Monaco Bar.

Peters marketing director Emma Jane Collins said: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with Leo Burnett. It's an exciting new chapter for our business, and we see the agency as a key partner to our continued success.

“Burnett is a great fit for Peters and we're really looking forward to their contribution in helping us build our brands.”

Geertz said: “Peters is one of the true iconically Australian brands – it's an honour to have this opportunity to partner with them. They are ambitious and energised about their future, and we can't wait to create some great work together.”

The appointment takes effect immediately.
