Lego has made its head of sales its top marketer. Troy Taylor's remit for the ANZ region will be to a take a "stronger focus on marketing effectiveness, shopper insight driven retail activation, next generation e-commerce methodology, active share focus and overall organisational health in the marketing department", according to general manager Glenn Abell.

Taylor has been with The Lego Group for 12 years, including a recent stint in the States as customer development director. He's seen the company move from lean years in 2003 to 2006 to a much healthier position today. Last year the company reported record sales.

He returned to Australia in 2012 as head of sales, overseeing the development of key account management capabilities and helping partners to hone in-store execution.

Lego recently retained UM as its media agency following a pitch.
