Jane Huxley resigns from Fairfax

Fairfax Metro chief executive and publisher, digital Jane Huxley has resigned from the media company.

Following restructures at Fairfax, Huxley's current role will evolve to chief product officer, splitting the editorial elements into an integrated editorial model.

As a result of the changes, Huxley has opted to resign. She will leave the company on 31 May.

In the interim, the chief product officer role will be rotated between Adam Mather, Darren Burden and Melina Cruikshank until a permanent appointment can be made.

Huxley was promoted to her current role during the Metro Media restructure which saw Jack Matthews elevated to the top job. Prior to that she was general manager media.

Huxley confirmed to AdNews she is due to leave the company soon. She said: "I still have a little while to go but I'll be working with Jack to make sure the digital business is set up for continued success with the right people, the right structure and the right road map." She said she will consider her options on her future plans.

She is also a board member of The Vine, Earth Hour and The Weather Company.

Recently, Huxley has been spearheading initiatives including the Fairfax Women's Network, the monetisation of its digital assets as well as overseeing partnerships with technology manufacturers such as LG and Sony.

Before joining Fairfax, Huxley had a short stint at Vodafone as head of product – mass market and worked for Microsoft for over 15 years.
