Honey Birdette ad pulled for being "overly sexualised"

A poster ad for lingerie store Honey Birdette has been banned by the advertising watchdog for drawing attention to a woman's nipples.

The ad, which appeared in store windows, depicted a woman in red lingerie with a low cut bra and gold shields covering her nipples.

The Advertising Standards Bureau (ASB) has banned the ad following numerous complaints.

One complaint read: “The graphic is larger than life pornography, overtly sexual in nature and is located in a family focussed shopping centre.”

The ASB has said the ad is “overly sexualised”. “The Board determined that the advertisement did not treat sex, sexuality and nudity with sensitivity to the relevant audience.”
