Bruhn will take on the position of global brand director for Smirnoff from 1 October.

He has headed the Diageo marketing team for the past two-and-a-half years. He has also held marketing roles in sponsorship for Diageo brand Bundaberg Rum.

A statement from Diageo said: “Matt has been pivotal in driving growth and energy within the Australia business and we wish him every success in his new role.

“Growing talent and pushing creative brilliance have been core to Matt's approach as a leader of the Australia marketing team which has translated into an array of top awards, including 2013 Adfest Advertiser of the Year and two Bronze Lions at Cannes for the Bundaberg 'Road to Recovery' campaign.”

Bruhn's replacement will be announced at a later date.
