British Airways outdoor ads interact with planes in real time

Digital billboards interact with planes and data.

Ever wondered where that plane was going? British Airways is using its flight data to populate a digital outdoor campaign in London that tells people where the plane flying overhead is headed. Half the time, that will be Heathrow. The other half may be more interesting.

The digital outdoor billboards around the city interact with planes in real time and the artwork changes in line with which planes are passing overhead.

The billboards show a child pointing at the sky and the plane's flight number and destination and the #lookup hashtag.

The simple idea comes from the idea that when most people look up at a plane in the sky, they first thing they wonder is where it's going. British Airways has sought to use its flight path data to answer the question.

British Airways' campaign went live this week.
