Bauer Media is moving its motoring titles which includes Wheels, Motor and Street Machine to its Trader group in Melbourne. It has also appointed Ged Bulmer as managing editor of the motoring group.

The industry has been rife with speculation about the move of the titles for some months, which up until now, had not been confirmed by Bauer.

The magazines moved to Bauer's Melbourne-based Trader group will be Wheels, Motor, Street Machine, 4x4 Australia, Australian Motorcycle News and Australasian Dirt Bike. New Zealand-based Motorcycle Trader and Trade-a-Boat will also relocate to Melbourne.

The titles will join Trader's current portfolio of transport, marine and motoring titles. The motoring category will be overseen by Bulmer. He has previously edited titles including Wheels, Motor and Overlander.

Auto Action and Top Gear Australia are unaffected by the move and will remain in Sydney. The Auto Action sales team will however merge with the broader motoring titles’ sales force under the Bauer Trader Media banner.

Bauer Trader Media chief executive Keith Falconer said: “As a single publishing group we can align our mastheads to better serve the motoring, motorcycle, marine and RV markets. It also means we can strengthen their brand footprints across all platforms – print, digital and video – while maintaining their high quality content and providing advertisers simple and wide-reaching marketing solutions.”
