The Australian Financial Review will revamp its structure on Monday in a move to make the print offering less sectionalised and more focused on setting the news agenda.
The current structure that includes a lift-out Market wrap will change to include a bigger Companies & Markets lift-out offering the top companies and market stories in one hit.
The change will allow The AFR to become less sectionalised and more focused on the big stories that cut across business, markets, the economy and politics.
The AFR editor-in-chief Michael Stutchbury said: “We have consolidated the companies and market stories into a bigger and broader one lift-out section, in recognition of the fact that these stories are often closely related. The changes that will be implemented next week are part of broader changes we are working on for the paper.”
The new Companies & Markets lift-out will provide a regular positioning for the Financial Review’s companies section which, until now, has moved around in the book. Financial services coverage also will be included in the expanded lift-out.
The new weekly Technology section on Tuesdays, replacing the daily Information Technology page, is also part of the change to consolidate daily sections within the paper and will allow big technology stories to appear more prominently in up-front news, or in Companies & Markets
