Southern Cross Austereo has merged the Austereo National Sales and Regional Mediaworks sales units, headed by group national sales director Jeremy Simpson.

The creation of the new unit, called Southern Cross Austereo – Sales, follows Southern Cross Media’s acquisition of Austereo earlier in the year.

While it was revealed some time ago that Simpson would be heading up Southern Cross Austereo’s sales function, it has taken much longer for the disparate sales forces to come together.

The company has claimed there will be no redundancies as a result of the sales teams merging. Austereo’s national sales director Cathy Thomas has become radio national sales director for the company.

Simpson said: “The introduction of Southern Cross Austereo - Sales to the Australian media market is a very exciting time. We are dedicated to delivering the high quality service that our clients have come to expect from us and with the vast array of media assets now at our fingertips we’ll certainly deliver on being First in Entertainment Media Solutions which is a core focus for our business.”

The company has been undergoing a process of integration since the acquisition was announced earlier in the year.
