Morgan exits News Limited for Foxtel

SYDNEY: Former Bankwest marketing boss David Morgan has left News Limited after less than three months to join Foxtel as chief marketing officer, AdNews magazine revealed exclusively.

Morgan, the architect of Bankwest’s “Happy Banking” repositioning, was headhunted by former Nationwide News managing director Alasdair MacLeod and News Limited’s group marketing director Joe Talcott in November 2009 for a senior marketing role at News Limited.

However, on his first day, Morgan found out the role no longer existed amid a restructure that also saw MacLeod leave the company.

“It was the oddest circumstance," Talcott told AdNews. "We spoke for a long time about recruiting him and I envisaged he’d stay longer than he did. We explored different things but couldn’t figure out something that would work.”
