Magazine printer Blue Star Group, a division of IVE, has signalled a further move into the marketing space by acquiring creative agency TASK2, while also bringing merchandiser Vavavoom into the fold.

The company announced today that it was moving to beef up its digital and creative capabilities, with TASK2 to relocate to the office of BSG company Kalido in Sydney.

Kalido CEO Joel Norton will lead the combined business, with TASK2 directors Nicola Tiernan, Leanne Pyne and Michael Cleary assuming senior roles within the business.

Warwick Hay, managing director of IVE, said it was a great opportunity for Kalido to expand its team and further enhance its creative and marketing services offering.

Norton said: “The team at TASK2 have delivered some excellent creative work that has been well executed across multi-channel campaigns. We are really excited about this acquisition, and the benefits it brings for all the customers across the group.”

Separately, Blue Star Group has acquired merchandising company Vavavoom, as part of the group’s first move into the $1.5 billion merchandise and promotional products space.

Vavavoom will be rebranded to Blue Star Promote and will continue to be led by current Vavavoom owner and CEO Matt Cave.

Blue Star’CEO Matt Aitken, who said the promotional products industry in Australia is worth in excess of $1.5bn, said: “Vavavoom is one of Australia’s leading promotional marketing companies and we are excited about the new product offering and benefits this acquisition will deliver our combined customer base."

All employees will be offered employment as part of the integration into Blue Star.
