Global Marketer Week kicks off today, big guns in town

Global Marketer Week Sydney kicks off today and industry heavyweights Sir John Hegarty, David Droga and CMOs from Unilever, Diageo, Adidas and Google Glass are in town for the week-long event that hinges on the Global Marketer Conference.

The World Federation of Advertiser and AANA are hosting the bi-annual event in Sydney this week and the full conference schedule for the flagship conference has been announced.

Google's Ed Sanders talks Glass, Diageo's James Thompson on the changing face of the luxury market, Adidas China MD sheds light on the new Chinese consumer and Acer CMO Michael Birkin talks tech transformation.

As part of the week-long event, BBH co-founder Sir John Hegarty and Droga5's David Droga will speak at a Communications Council lunch on Thursday 27 March, sharing their experiences of starting agencies, the creative process and the future of businesses. You can book a last minute seat here.

Events running this week include a session on international best practice in advertising, a global advocacy briefing looking at challenges that brand owners face around lifestyle issues including obesity and alcohol-related harm.

The AANA will announce the winners of the first Great Australian Marketing Awards (GRAMAs) at a cocktail event on Tuesday (25 March) and the World Federation of Advertisers will present its global brand purpose research.

On Thursday (27 March) Contagious and Google are hosting a debate on the intersection of communications, technology and culture and agency We Are Social will present its latest research on inspiring brand stories at a panel event including Unilever’s Senior vice-president of marketing, Marc Mathieu, Martin Riley, CMO Pernod Ricard, Joao Ciaco, head of brands communications and marketing at Fiat Latin America and Michelle Froah, APAC senior marketing director, Kimberly Clark.

There is also a Global Marketer Week app that delegates can use to pose questions to speakers during sessions and respond to live polls during the conference. It also includes the programme and details about events throughout the week. Download the app here.
