Jacqueline Ingram, group sales leader at oOh!

Time in current role/time at the company: 4.5 years at oOh!

How long have you been in the industry?  7+ years working in the OOH industry

How did you get here? Was this always the plan?
Definitely not! I landed a role in media sales by accident at the age of 20, the same week I submitted my final university exam. I quickly worked my way up to business manager and during this time I discovered a passion for connecting with a diverse group of people and assisting brands in unleashing the potential of using a traditional medium to achieve their campaign goals in unique and innovative ways.

Who is your right hand person/who guides you day to day?
There are honestly too many people to name. The past 12 months have been a pivotal time of growth for me. I have had so many brilliant managers, coaches and mentors and every single person has had an impact on my growth either personally or professionally.

I recently landed a new role as a group sales leader within the Sydney agency sales leadership team and would be lost without the support of the other GSLs, and my team who have made the transition much easier. They’ve also been so patient with my million and one questions.

What’s the best thing about the industry you work in?
Definitely the people and the experiences that I've been fortunate enough to have.

And the biggest challenge?
Working for an Out of Home company when the world was quite literally told to stay at home. Boy did that teach me a lot about resilience! Thankfully, those days are behind us and we are fortunate to now work in a medium where audiences are continuing to grow.

Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?
I'm loving my new role and feel like I’ve only just scratched the surface, so I'm keen to continue to learn from those around me and hopefully continue to progress with oOh!

I have three female sales directors (and mums) paving the way for me, as well as Cathy O’Conner as CEO. I think it is an exciting prospect that some of my fellow female colleagues feel empowered, encouraged, and most importantly supported by the company to fill these top jobs.

Where do you turn for inspiration?
It sounds like a cliché, but we have such a high performing team in Sydney and nationally who set the bar really high. I’m pretty competitive, so this inspires me to do better and bring my best self to work every day.

My favourite advert is (and why):
That’s a tough on. Nice – Dream Crazier always gives me goose bumps.
Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?
There isn’t much my team don’t already know, I’m a pretty open book! One thing that might surprise my clients is that for someone in sales, I’m pretty introverted. I enjoy being around people, but in a client-facing role it can be quite demanding, and I like to recharge by having time to myself.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Personally - travel, hopefully I can tick a few countries off my bucket list. Career - Inspiring a team and nominating them as Young Guns.
