Isabella Chan: Graphic Designer

Time in current role/time at the company:
I’ll be reaching 1 year at Archibald Williams this April.

How long have you been in the industry?
8 years

How did you get here? Was this always the plan?
Nope, the plan was no plan! But I loved art and computers so I just followed where that would take me. I feel very lucky to have found a home here at AW surrounded by like-minded people.

Who is your right hand person/who guides you day to day?
It’d be great if she was a person, but I’d have to say my cat Mitsy. We have a strong connection, you wouldn’t get it.

What’s the best thing about the industry you work in?
The best thing about being in the creative industry is you literally get to ‘create’. You’re in the engine room bringing ideas to life.
And the biggest challenge?
The challenge comes with the limitations that get put on you with each individual project, but you need that otherwise the wild part lacks direction and becomes meaningless.

Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?
I kind of love where I am already. Wherever I can help out the most with what I can do is where I’ll be.

Where do you turn for inspiration?
I don’t want to have to say Mitsy again.

My favourite advert is:
Volvo Trucks, The Epic Split feat. Van Damme. I love Enya and this ad does her justice.

Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?
My dad wanted me to become a tennis star, but I sucked.

In five years’ time I’ll be:
Still happy.
