Our Young Gun profile takes a look at some of the young talent across the advertising, adtech, marketing and media sector in Australia. It aims to shed light on the varying roles, people and companies across the buzzing industry.

Today we speak to Val Morgan group sales manager Annaliese Pedavoli.

Time at the company:
Four and a half years.

How long have you been in the industry?
Four and a half years!

How did you get here? Was this always the plan?
I always thought I would work in the publishing industry. I literally knew nothing about media, media agencies or media owners. But I landed an interview with Val Morgan through a recruiter and have never looked back!

Who is your right-hand person?
The man, the myth, the legend – Tim Bowen.

What’s the best thing about the industry you work in?
There’s a lot to be thankful for but it would have to be the people. Getting to chat films all day long, is pretty good too.

And the biggest challenge?
Not being able to know everything. For me, there’s always more to learn – new agencies, new data solutions, new reporting systems, different opinions – and it is a challenge every single day, but I am okay with not knowing everything straight away and I’m always the first person to put my hand up if I don’t understand something.

Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?
I would love to lead a sales team full of passionate, talented people, for a platform that I truly believe in.

Where do you turn for inspiration?
I’ve got a pretty epic group of people around me – both in the industry and outside it. I take a lot from them.

My favourite advert is:
I’m a big softie, so the Qantas ‘Feels Like Home’ series, really got me. Such a simple insight led to such a brilliant concept.

Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?
My dad is a world-class pigeon racer.

In five years’, time I'll be:
I hope to be a woman in media who is respected, knowledgeable and who mentors young talent to succeed.
