Whybin takes most gold, Leos named top Agency: AWARD

By AdNews | 19 March 2015

The AWARD Awards have handed out a record 32 gold pencils at its 36th annual awards, held at Sydney's Town Hall tonight (19 March).

Whybin\TBWA Melbourne took home the most gold, winning six pencils across promotion and experiential, branded entertainment and content, PR and poster and outdoor.

It was closely followed by Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney which won four gold for Film and Video, Creative Innovation, and Direct Marketing.

Leo Burnett won the award for Network of the Year while Leo Burnett Sydney took home the prize for Agency of the Year. It follows wins by Leos as the AdNews Agency of the Year, Network of the Year and NSW Agency of the Year, earlier this month.

Leo Burnett Sydney chief creative officer Andy DiLallo said: "I am extremely proud of the entire agency for this exceptional result at AWARD. The impressive number of wins further highlight our tireless and ongoing commitment to producing world-class creative excellence for our clients."

The AWARD Awards celebrate the most outstanding creative communications work in the Asia Pacific region. AWARD chairman Mark Harricks said the record number of pencils are indicative of the creative calibre in the region.

“This really was a night to celebrate the outstanding creativity in our region, with an unprecedented number of gold pencils awarded,” Harricks said.

“The standard was exceptionally high – and made for an insightful judging experience for this year's jurors.”

AWARD also delivered 96 silver awards and 127 bronze. ANZ topped the list for Client of the Year and Revolver/Will O'Rourke won Production Company of the Year.

Colenso BBDO senior copywriter Matt Lawson won Creative of the Year, which recognises those being credited across the most individual winning entries.

Former Clemenger BBDO creative director and chairman David Blackley was inducted into the AWARD Hall of Fame for his many industry achievements including co-founding the AWARD Awards and his 36 year career at Clemenger. Blackley joined the group in 1968 and retired from the industry in 2003.
