Swinburne University of Technology has appointed Venus Advertising and Initiative as its creative and media agencies of record following a competitive pitch.

Venus beat out The Faith Agency and HBT after incumbent M&C Saatchi declined to repitch for the business.

Venus managing director Miles Mainwaring said: "By partnering with Initiative we have been able to put forward a truly integrated service model tailored to meet the specific challenges of a modern tertiary education provider."

Swinburne, which has five campuses in Melbourne at Croydon, Hawthorn, Lilydale, Prahran, Wantirna – and one in Sarawak, East Malaysia, previously used Carat for media buying.

Venus has also added property developer Dennis Family Homes to its client list after a four-way competitive pitch.
A brand campaign will be rolled out in February.

Dennis' media remains with Initiative, who have handled the business for the last six years. Reality Group, which is now called Sputnik, previously held the creative account.

Swinburne spent $900,000 on main media in the 12 months to October 2010, up from $800,000 in the prior period, while Dennis increased its spend to $1.1 million over the same period, according to Nielsen.
