IAB Australia recently held its Melbourne Digital AdOps event, covering topics from both a local and global perspective that are affecting the digital advertising industry from product, programmatic, operational and people perspectives.

Rupert Walsh, CTO of InnovateGPT, gave a keynote on 'Generative AI and the Future of this Exciting Technology', before an industry panel on AI in digital advertising featuring Renee Stopps (ANZ sales director - Microsoft Advertising), Scott Thomson (head of innovation and customer engineering - Google); Adam O’Neill (country director - Public AI); Maija Gwynn (digital director - Lexlab); and Kali Guillas (lead director of client strategy - The Trade Desk), moderated by Jonas Jaanimagi, technology lead at IAB Australia.

A session on the evolution of the programmatic supply chain featured an introductory presentation on 'The Future of Supply Chain Dynamics' by Alba Marco, head of supply partnerships of Yahoo before an industry panel of Marco, Luke Smith (head of programmatic sales and audiences - Seven West Media); Amelia Ward (senior buyer development director - Index Exchange);  Ashton De Santis (inventory partnerships director - The Trade Desk); and Daniella Kenney, an independent media, audiences and programmatic expert, moderated by Jaanimagi.

Best practices and case studies for advertising in and around gaming followed, kicking off with a working group presentation titled 'How to Activate Game Advertising in a Seamless, Accessible and Measurable manner' by Yun Yip, chief commercial officer of iion and Daniel Walsh, group sales manager of Scroll Media. A panel featuring Yip, Walsh, Caitlin Huskins (JAPAC commercial director - Azerion); Charles Dangibeaud (product director - GroupM); and Sasha Smith (chief media officer - Howatson+Company), moderated by Jaanimagi.

The day ended with a careers session focused on embracing diversity and inclusion to build great teams. The panelists comprised of Michael Wretham-Brown (head of digital and transformation - Match & Wood); Renee Murray (head of people and culture - Half Dome); Akib Hasan (senior platform strategy lead - Yahoo); Sara Müller (sales manager - Adform); and Abdul Yacin (CEO and co-founder - FitFlo), moderated by Gai Le Roy, CEO of IAB Australia.

The event was held at the PwC Melbourne offices in Southbank and was followed by networking drinks.
