Officeworks, in collaboration with Yahoo Creative Studios and Initiative, is bringing back the popular augmented reality (AR) festive photo experience this Christmas.

By scanning a QR code users can choose from a variety of poses to take a virtual Christmas photo.

The campaign was first introduced last year when lockdowns hindered the traditional in-store experience.

This year the virtual characters stretch beyond Santa Claus with Rudolph joining in on the fun.

Users have the option to print in-store, share with family members and friends across social media, or transform their photos onto one of Officeworks’ personalised gifts.

The AR activation will be accessible via the Officeworks AR website, via targeted native ads across the Yahoo Preferred Network, paid social and in-store locations.

Officeworks General Manager Marketing, Data & Insights, Jessica Richmond: “With Christmas just around the corner we’re excited to help Aussies celebrate the holiday spirit right from the comfort and safety of their homes with this new activation.

"In the spirit of the season, it’s all about giving back and providing our customers with a truly enjoyable and memorable experience that they can share with family and friends.”

Julia Edwards, Head of Strategic Solutions at Yahoo ANZ: “To capture the attention of customers this holiday season, brands need to find new and immersive ways to engage and interact with audiences both online and in-store.

“This campaign for Officeworks does exactly that. Customers can safely continue their holiday traditions, grab a fun photo with Santa and Rudolf and have a unique shopping experience.

"More importantly from a marketers point of view, with Yahoo’s clicks-to-bricks attribution, we can actually track the direct impact and see who is engaging with the AR experience whether that’s converting into sales or footfall. It really is a win-win.”
