Coles has appointed Nine Entertainment's Paul Brooks to the newly created role of general manager, Coles Media.

He spent three years at Nine Entertainment as director of sales with responsibility for leading a large revenue generating team across television, digital, radio, and publishing channels.

Before that, he was the Australia and New Zealand CEO of media agency Carat, where he led the business through significant growth and transformation.

Brooks: “Coles is an iconic company that has touched the life of almost every Australian for more than 100 years. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to deliver a media model that will inspire customers with the most relevant and personalised offers across all platforms in an omni-channel environment to meet their needs and enable all partners to better connect their brands with Australians. Retail media is about to enter a huge period of growth and I want to make sure that Coles is leading the market.”

He will be responsible for the delivery of a new Coles media operating model, leading the Coles Supplier Media Centre of Excellence. The Centre of Excellence will provide supplier partners with a consistent and unified interface to unlock multichannel media solutions across Coles owned and bought media.

Coles CMO Lisa Ronson says she is delighted to welcome Paul to Coles to further strengthen the marketing leadership team.

“Paul will be responsible for helping our suppliers and partners have the most seamless experience with their brands at Coles, enabling holistic campaign management across our strong media assets with the goal to deliver stronger results for supplier funded campaigns,” she says.

“Coles connects with millions of Australians every week through some of the most loved media properties in Australia. The Coles Magazine is consistently ranked as the number one read magazine in Australia surpassing 5 million readers a month last year and the Coles Radio is one of the most listened to digital radio stations in Australia. "We have also invested in building a stronger digital presence for our suppliers and partners to connect with our customers at point-of-purchase through Coles Online and in-store Digital Screens.

"We can’t wait for Paul to help explore more opportunities for our suppliers and partners and ultimately provide a consistent, single and unified interface to unlock multichannel media solutions.”
