News Corp Australia is rolling out a new digital platform and eight-page print liftout focusing on lifestyle, which will form the publisher’s third editorial pillar after news and sport.

The new section SMARTdaily, running Monday-Friday, will provide news and “practical advice and information”. News Corp says SMARTdaily is an evolution of HiberNation, which was produced during COVID-19 to provide advertisers with a brand-safe environment.

In addition to the new platform, an extra four-page SMARTguide will be published regularly featuring themes around topics such as superannuation, camping and caravanning, and pets.

“Our readers are trying to look to the future beyond COVID-19,” says SMARTdaily editor Louise Roberts.

“We always have to be responsive to what our readers want and SMARTdaily is very much an audience-led initiative with their feedback critical in shaping the type of content we’re producing such as cost of living.”

Columnists for SMARTdaily will include Edwina Bartholomew writing about life as a new working mum, Joe Hilderbrand’s weekly view on TV and entertainment and Serina Bird who covers a new section called Savvy Shopper.
