Recruiters at MAARS are seeing demand for media sellers, campaign support or operations, and media agency staff.

And Brenton Moore, Managing Director of MAARS, says there are a number of content (Editor) roles as well.

The NSW, Victorian and South Australian markets seem to be ahead of the other states in terms of demand.

Brenton Moore's assessment:

What type of companies?

"Companies within publishing – mainstream and digital, AdTech, and Outdoor have been the main sectors looking to hire. Media agencies in Sydney and Melbourne seeking to fill seats let go last year; trading or digital disciplines mainly."

Salaries?

"We are working on roles from Graduate ($50K + super) through to senior executive (circa $300K +) roles at present.

"Salaries seem to have returned to what were pre-COVID-19 levels, quickly this year."

Where are you not seeing demand?

"Broadcast. We are usually hunting for this sector as well; not at present."

Trends?

"Not really a trend, more of an observation. Media agencies &/or clients are spending well again. This in turn has given media owners the confidence to again invest in their teams - teams that had headcount reduced in size last year due to Covid-19."

Permanent roles? Or more contracting opportunities?

"Permanent roles in the main. We are sourcing for Maternity Leave (12-mth contracts); but nothing shorter than this at present. I should point out that we are not known for being a ‘Contract Recruitment Co’ so would not be aware if this sector was busy or not."
