The industry is rallying today for Pat Crowley, former Essence Mediacom Australia CEO.

Last week, Crowley's eldest son suffered a mountain bike accident that resulted in a spinal injury.

In a personal note to staff today, Aimee Buchanan, CEO of GroupM Australia & New Zealand, said 17-year-old Fletcher is "a pretty terrific young man" and is rallying.

"To be honest many times this week, I have been inspired and in awe of the strength of Pat and his family," she said.

"However, they are facing some big challenges and could do with some help."

The family have launched a Go Fund Me page for both Fletcher and his younger brother Levi, who's been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called VHL (Von Hippel-Lindau) that requires regular medical intervention and treatment.

The GoFundMe page says contributions will go toward home modifications needed for Fletcher's independence, a modified vehicle to help Fletcher with independence, and to help cover the mounting medical bills and ongoing treatments for both boys.

"The money will also go towards advancing medical research and clinical trials that could potentially change the course of their lives," says the page.

"Fletcher and Levi are fighters. They have both shown such incredible grace for people so young. Right now, what they need, is real support from all of us."

Crowley spent just under two years at Essence Mediacom before departing in August to become the GM of marketing, paid and owned media at Commonwealth Bank
