Host snags Vodafone DM account

Host has expanded its role with Vodafone by winning DM duties for direct sales division "Direct to You" from MercerBell.

The agency will develop campaigns to sell via phone and web using a wide range of one-to-one communications channels.

Host head of direct and retail Richard Birkby said: "It is great to be able to extend the work we already do for Vodafone across such an important acquisition channel. We have been working hard honing our skills in this space with clients like Bankwest and are excited to be able to now apply this capability for Vodafone."

Vodafone initially appointed Host in February last year and shortly after added responsibility for 3 Mobile. The original remit covered all advertising including brand, retail and sponsorship as well as business-to-business customer communications.

Vodafone head of online and direct Scott Lewis said: "With Host's extensive understanding of the Vodafone brand and existing broad remit, it seemed to be smart to further leverage their strategic and creative direct capabilities for 'Direct to You'."

The appointment is effective from May this year with work on the first campaigns already underway.
