SYDNEY: Nine Network's head of sport sales Mark Hinshelwood has resigned and will be replaced by Melbourne sales director Ian Paterson.

A statement from Nine said Hinshelwood has stepped down for personal reasons and will leave the role at the end of July.

Nine's director of sales and marketing Peter Wiltshire said: "For personal reasons, Mark is returning to Melbourne and unfortunately it is imperative that the leader of our Sports Sales Department, an area so critical for Nine, operates out of the Sydney head office."

Hinshelwood has worked across the Melbourne and Sydney markets for more than eight years and spent the last three and a half years as network sports sales director. Nine credits Hinshelwood with positioning the network as a market-leader in Sports advertising, integration and innovation.

Paterson, who has been with Nine Network for four years, will relocate from Melbourne to take the reins in Sydney.

"Over the past four years, Ian has built a strong Melbourne sales team, and his focus on leadership and culture has delivered outstanding results," Wiltshire said.
