Gravity Media, global provider of complex live media facilities and production services, has appointed Steve Kruger executive director – technology.

Pete Newton has been promoted to executive director – media services and facilities.

Together they will lead on developing all technical solutions.

Joining from ITV Studios Entertainment as head of technology, Kruger will now be based in the UK, heading up Gravity Media’s technical function across the global operation.

Kruger’s recent career highlights include designing and overseeing the implantation of the remote outside broadcast and post facilities for ITV’s Love Island during challenging Covid conditions.

Prior to ITV, Kruger worked at BBC Studios - post production, Cutting Edge Post UK and Cutting Edge Australia where Steve provided a useful and varied skillset encompassing OB, studios and post-production. His creative and technical highlight projects also became award winners as he was part of the 2021 BAFTA winning team for his work on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in Wales and was BAFTA Nominated in 2020 for the work on Love Island.

Kruger said: “Working closely with John Newton, Eamonn Dowdall, Pete Newton, Steve Norris, and the rest of our extremely talented team, my new role will ensure Gravity Media can continue to deliver the best service.

“I am extremely proud to be joining Gravity Media at such a pivotal time for the company as it continues its global expansion.”

Pete Newton’s new expanded Gravity Media role means he will now be responsible for focusing on the operational business growth, working towards the strategic expansion of all global business units supported by all assets.

Newton has worked with Gravity Media since joining Gearhouse Broadcast in the UK, in October 1998.

Gravity Media’s CEO and founder John Newton said: “Having Steve join us with his vast amount of experience, most recently in his role at ITV, is an important hire for the business.

“With Steve and Pete, working closely with the wider team, Gravity Media will further develop robust technical solutions whilst embracing emerging technologies, adding to our credentials of being the most innovative and forward-thinking media, production and post-production facilities company in the world.”
