SYDNEY: GQ is to launch an Australian version of GQ Style, the UK fashion spin-off title, on a bi-annual basis, and relaunch its website.

The new title, which will focus on fashion and style, will hit newstands in September and March to coincide with high season for fashion advertisers. The first issue launches this September.

The men's magazine also revealed it is set to relaunch GQ.com.au at an unspecified date in the next twelve months to bring it more in line with sister title, Vogue.com.au.

The News Mags-owned title will introduce the same functionality as the Vogue website, and create new areas such as catwalk looks as well improved content across entertainment, gadgets, style and apps.

At the same time, GQ has unveiled a location-based social network inspired app called GQ BarSpy, which is designed to take advantage of Sydney's burgeoning bar scene.

The app, which retails for $2.49 in the iTunes store, enables users to access reviews and descriptions of bars. Users can also rate and review the bars and recommend them to friends across social networks using Facebook's like button and a Twitter link.

GQ editor, Nick Smith, said: "It's going to be a big year for us."
