IAB Australia has announced Gai Le Roy as its CEO following the departure of Vijay Solanki earlier this year.

Le Roy served as interim CEO since Solanki’s sudden exit from the organisation in June and has been at IAB as director of research since 2016.

Le Roy has more than 20 years’ experience in the media industry across strategy, analyst, research and data roles.

She has previously been chief operating officer with Gateway Research and general manager of audience insights and research for Fairfax Media.

“Gai’s track record is exemplary and her commitment to our industry is absolute. Her depth of experience and understanding of the issues that relate to digital advertising and measurement will enable her to lead the IAB towards its goal of supporting sustainable and diverse investment in digital advertising across all platforms in Australia,” IAB Australia chair Cameron King says.

As part of her announcement Le Roy unveiled a new IAB Industry Charter.

The charter is designed to improve the organisation's ability to help marketers and agencies understand how digital advertising can deliver on their business objectives. It puts a renewed focus on “standards that promote trust, steps to reduce friction in the ad supply chain; and ultimately improve ad experiences for consumers, advertisers and publishers”

The charter also outlines four additional areas of focus for the organisation which include digital ad effectiveness, data and data privacy, standards and guidelines, and improving the digital value chain.

IAB Australia experienced a growth in members this year with brands such as Suncorp, Woolworths, ANZ, ING and AMEX joining and taking on active roles in its Councils.
