EXCLUSIVE: New Zealand-owned dairy conglomerate Fonterra has kicked off a local pitch for its creative account, as competition in the dairy category heats up.

The group is on the hunt for a second ad agency to work alongside lead agency Clemenger BBDO Melbourne.

The review encompasses several Fonterra brands in the yoghurt, chilled dairy and beverage categories.

The decision to split creative duties across two lead agencies comes as competition in the dairy category intensifies.

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne previously handled the majority of these brands, although Sapient Nitro handled one of the yoghurt brands, Nestlé Diet.

Clemenger BBDO will not be re-pitching, but will continue to handle other brands, which do not fall into the categories involved in the tender.

Fonterra’s media business, handled by OMD, is unaffected by the pitch. The creative pitch is being overseen by TrinityP3.
