Ex-Nine business directors Sam Brownbill and David Ross have launched a media agency, Habitat M.

Habitat M offers media buying across all channels but the focus is on strategy before execution, which comes from time spent getting under the hood of a business operationally.

They see closer relationships with media suppliers as critical – involving them in the strategic process.

With a combined 25 years, the pair have a passion for working with young and maturing companies.

Ross said taking time to understand a business rather than rushing into creating a marketing plan just to spend the budget is key to what the pair do.

“That allows us to better brief media owners and we like to include our clients in that process, as we see the value in having them in those early stages of this cycle," Ross said

“I’ve seen this approach work so well with our years in direct clients and particularly with Aspire42 which is why we are particularly delighted to have them as our foundation client."

Investment company Aspire42 CMO Paul Winslow is enthusiastic about the partnership.

“Working with Sam during his past tenure, he brought a rare attitude of really wanting to get under the skin of our business and it was a natural fit for us to embrace that when Habitat M launched," Winslows said.

"As Aspire42 accelerate our growth, we need more expertise and firepower on our side of the fence, so the timing was perfect to bring them onboard. Bringing Dave into the fold was an added bonus.”

Brownbill said growing a brand is at the forefront of why he started this agency.

"We are incredibly excited to launch Habitat M and in a time where the importance and profile of independent agencies is growing, we’re looking forward to adding value to the independent story," Brownbill said.

"At the end of the day, we really want to be an agency that people enjoy working with and as simple as that sounds, that makes a good business”.
