The talent crisis and employee preferences for WFH means workplaces need to utilise office spaces as a tool to connect with staff. In Better Workplaces, AdNews looks at how agencies use office design to entice staff to come in and create a company culture worth staying for.

Resolution Digital is one of the seven Omnicom Media Group (OMG) agencies that moved into the condensed open plan office for the holding group in Sydney's South Eveleigh in July 2022.

Each agency has a relatively equal section - except the largest, OMD, which occupies two levels - of the heritage-listed late 1800s building complex which was occupied by so-called dirty trades, including blacksmiths and boiler makers, to build trains prior to 1988 when reconstruction started to build today's technology park.

While the OMG agencies had a design agency, an interior architecture company and a project manager for the remodelling, each had automotomy over its interior design.

Klaus Germann, general manager at Resolution Digital, told AdNews: “The ask was to create a space that our people could identify with, making sure our space brought our agency branding to life."

Due to the heritage of OMG's building, the agencies had to juggle local council restrictions with modernising the space to be fit for one of Australia's biggest holding groups when redesigning.

Like many agencies post-COVID, every OMG office hot-desks. Staff use an online system to book a desk and other meeting rooms they wish.

Due to hot desking, Reso staff use lockers to keep their belongings in.
