News Limited has teamed up with Samsung to create an app for the new Samsung tablet, which will enable owners to trial The Australian for free.

The app comes pre-loaded into the device, and gives users access to a two month introductory trial to The Australian. When the trial period expires, users can subscribe to the app for $8.99 per month or $36.99 for six months.

Content on the app includes news, opinion, editorial, letters, national affairs, features including The Arts, business including media, markets, economics, Australian IT and sport.

Additional content and functionality including video and photo galleries will be added to the app in the coming weeks

The app has been specifically built for the Samsung Galaxy and is not available for other android devices. The Australian iPad app will continue to be sold through the iTunes store.
