2021 Australian Podcast Awards winners revealed

The winners of the 2021 Australian Podcast Awards have been revealed with Laura Byrne and Brittney Hockley’s Life Uncut taking home the Listeners’ Choice Award for the second year in a row.

The awards were held at an in-person ceremony and covered Australian podcasts across 29 different categories.

Dating and relationship podcast from Bachelor alumni Laura Byrne and Brittney Hockley, Life Uncut, took home the Listeners’ Choice Award, while romantic dramedy fiction podcast, Private Affairs, took home Podcast of the Year.

Julia Gillard’s A Podcast of One’s Own was awarded the Spotlight Award, while The Nurse took home the award for True Crime podcast.

Other winners included Dan Illic picking up Best Comedy for A Rational Fear, radio host Christian O’Connell won Best Entertainment Podcast for his show Stuff of Legends while Marc Fennel won Best Creativity for his podcast Stuff the British Stole. Shoes Off which chronicles Asian Australian culture took home gold for Smartest Podcast.

“Australia continues to lead the way when it comes to amazing podcast content that entertains, informs and even inspires,” says Matt Deegan, director at the Australian Podcast Awards.

“We’ve seen another incredible year of entries and the award winners represent the best of the best. We’re thrilled to celebrate both in person and digitally this year. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees across the 29 categories.”

More than 90 judges listened to nearly 1,000 submissions to find these winners, and more than 40,000 Australians voted in this year’s Listeners’ Choice poll, supported by LiSTNR.
