SYDNEY: Telstra executive director of brands & marketing, Amanda Johnston-Pell, has resigned from her role, four months after Kate McKenzie was installed as chief marketing officer.

Johnston-Pell, who has been on maternity leave for a number of months, leapt several rungs up the corporate ladder to take the role in August 2008 when she replaced industry veteran Bill Obermeir.

Prior to her appointment, Johnston-Pell was head of sales and marketing at Telstra Bigpond.

Her resignation follows a series of redundancies at the telco-turned-media company, with many said to be coming from the office of the chief marketing officer.
