Despite not being an official sponsor, Telstra has just aligned with the Rio Olympics in a new ad.
Telstra has launched an ad urging consumers to ‘Go to Rio’ and watch its Olympic coverage.
The 60-second spot is set to a version of Peter Allen’s ‘I Go to Rio’ and shows sport fans both playing sport and watching sport.
The voiceover says: “Watch every event in Rio Live with the Olympics on Seven and Telstra”, promoting the 'Olympics on Seven' app.
Optus is the official sponsor of the Australian Olympics, which means Telstra could be treading into the telco’s territory.
Telstra has also launched a website for customers to sign up to be notified when the Olympics on Seven app is available.
