St George Bank seeks to help Australians this festive season with in-app spending tracker

St George has released its festive money-managing offering, a thirty-second TVC starring Father Christmas and St George icon, Little Dragon.

The merry duo fret as they attempt to balance the books before Christmas Eve, contemplating whether or not they can afford to visit everyone this year.

“The budget is out of control, maybe we’ll have to skip a country,” Father Christmas quips.

Fortunately, Little Dragon has the solution. Directing Father Christmas to the St George banking app, the animated fire-breathing monster explains how the app can help them to keep closer track of their spending habits.

Festive Finances, a Saatchi & Saatchi created integrated campaign, seeks to help Australians who feel as if they’ve lost track of their spending in the tap-and-go climate.

“As a bank we understand the financial pressure of Christmas meaning it can be a tricky time to talk about finances. We wanted to spread a Christmas message that helps our customers keep track of their spending so they have confidence in where they are at and can make informed decisions about when to splurge and when to save,” St George Bank head of brand and advertising Kate Kissane said.

The creation of the animated character Little Dragon by Saatchi & Saatchi has proved to be a popular addition to the St George Bank brand.

“Juggling the Christmas budget can be stressful so it’s great that St.George Bank has developed its banking app to help people overcome that. The ‘Festive Finances’ campaign is a fun seasonal extension to the well performing Little Dragon campaign,” Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney deputy executive creative director Sesh Moodley said.

The campaign will roll out across broadcast television, cinema, digital, online video, out of home, retail digital screens and on social.

The campaign will also include a custom St George Snapchat lens.
