Welcome to another roundup of awesome ideas. This week’s batch includes pot hole street art, modified chat roulette to encourage adoption for the internet’s favourite animal and an ECG iPhone app.
Number 5) Peugeot Hybrid4 parallax site
In 5th place this week is a good old fashioned microsite from Peugeot which tells an animated story around the car’s 4 different travel modes. The story is perhaps just a little tenuous, but the animation style with parallax treatment certainly holds your attention.

Number 4) Street Pong
Ever wondered how to pass that indescribably dull 2 minutes of waiting for the pedestrian lights? Then rest at ease as students at HAWK Hildesheim look to have just nailed the answer. In their inspired concept of ‘Street Pong’, you get to take on a random at the opposite set of lights with your pong skills whilst waiting at a red light.

Number 3) Catroulette
In number 3 is a cunning idea from Belgium to encourage adoption of the internet’s favourite animal. In the brilliantly entitled Catroulette you can choose to ‘next’ or ‘adopt’ from a range of cute but suitably morose looking felines.

Number 2) AliveCor iPhone case acts as ECG monitor for pets
Next up is a ridiculously smart accessory that turns your iPhone into a veterinary heart monitor for your pet. Here’s hoping it will still works with the inevitable different-shaped-iPhone announcement from Cupertino this week...

Number 1) Pot hole street art to make the politicians work
In number 1 spot this week is an inspired usage of street art graffiti combined with a heavy dose of social media to encourage Russian politicians to take action. Yekaterinbburg is the 4th largest city in Russia but towards the last in terms of road quality and exacerbated by the unwillingness of its politicians to do anything about the situation. Realising, the only thing they did care about was their public image, Ura.Ru set about associating the very thing they did treasure most with the situation by depicting them with ‘pot hole art’. Highly original and, as it turns out, very effective.
