The Block steals the night, Manu leads with way for Seven

The eve of the final week for The Block: Fans versus Faves saw the reality home makeover show win the night for Nine, with 1.829 million people tuning in.

It paved the way for an overall win in the free-to-air TV ratings race for Nine last night, with the network taking 34.9% of the audience share across Australia's five metro areas. Seven followed with 30.4%, according to preliminary overnight figures from OzTam.

The first of Seven's two-parter, My France With Manu, was the network's top-ranking non-news show, in sixth place with an audience of 813,000. The My Kitchen Rules spin-off sees celebrity chef Manu Feildel return to his native France to reconnect with his family and culinary favourites.

Seven's Downton Abbey maintained its hold on the top 10, in eighth position with 694,000 fans tuning in.

And ABC1's screening of the final in the three-part series Ice Age Giants made it into the top 10 for the first time, in 10th spot with an audience of 580,000.

News programs completed the top 10, with Nine News the highest ranking, in second spot with 1.550 million people watching.

Nine's 60 Minutes was third, with an audience of 1.372 million, Seven News was fourth, with 1.233 million, Seven's Sunday Night was fifth, with 892,000, ABC News was seventh, with 808,000, and ABC News Update was ninth, with 581,000.
