PHD has retained the Ferrero account, AdNews has learnt.

The company's brands including Ferrero Rocher, Tic Tac, Kinder and Nutella in Australia, the latter of which was invented in Italy in the aftermath of the second World War when a shortage of cocoa led an entrepreneurial baker, Pietro Ferrero, to mix in an abundant local ingredient, hazelnuts.

The media business is thought to be worth up to $10 million annually. Nielsen data for the 12 months to August puts it closer to $7 million, down from around $9 million the prior year.

PHD locally could not be reached to confirm it had retained the account.
