Buzzfeed Australia has bolstered the ranks of big brands paying it to put native ads in front of its audience. McDonald's, Vodafone and 5 Seeds have all launched campaigns on the site in recent weeks.

McDonald's has kicked off with 16 Slightly Fancy Words For Everyday Things to promote its new M-Selections range, a fancy range of burgers.

Vodafone has launched 13 Signs That You Basically Live For The Internet to promote its 4G mobile network. Over the Easter long weekend 5 Seeds launched 25 Animals Who CANNOT WAIT For The Four-Day Weekend.

Jana Kotako, general manager brand & communications for Vodafone said “partnering up with Buzzfeed was a logical step" because the telco wants to drive home the changing nature of mobile communications, from voice and texts to browsing and shopping.  "What epitomises the internet more than Buzzfeed? It creates content that is highly engaging and shareable, and has allowed us to bring to life the consumer benefits of more internet.”

The site's first Australian advertisers were announced in March with CommBank and Telstra launching campaigns following after Buzzfeed's local launch at the end of January.

According to the March Nielsen Online Ratings, Buzzfeed's unique Australian audience was 1.6 million.
