UM Melbourne's management structure has been reorganised with a managing director and general manager put in place.

Former managing partners Ivo Kavelj and Alex Smith have taken on the roles, with Kavelj stepping up to be managing MD and Smith becoming GM.

Kavelj, former head of implementation, planning and investment at MediaCom's Sydney office, joined UM Melbourne in February as managing partner and head of investment.

Mat Baxter, CEO at UM, said Kavelj has rapidly shown his leadership and skills capabilities and that taking on the managing director role is a natural step up for him.

Baxter explained that the Melbourne office was previously run by four managing partners – Kavelj, Smith, Kim Lion and David Hearn.

Lion and Hearn are continuing in their roles as head of talent and head of strategy.

Baxter told AdNews: “We wanted to move to a more conventional structure with an MD and a GM. It's a reorganisation, calling out more clearly a specific leader for the Melbourne office. That's Ivo.”
