Ikon Communications has developed a new management structure, with Sydney managing partner Dan Johns appointed national chief executive, as the company confirms its plans to launch a Brisbane office next month.

Agency directors Pat Crowley and Annick Perrin have also been appointed to joint managing directors of the Sydney office.

Agency director Brett Dawson and national strategy director Chris Christofi will be leaving the agency to start a new organisation within STW. STW Group chief executive Mike Connaghan said details of the new business would be revealed next month.

As part of his new national leadership role, Johns now oversees a management team that comprises of national trading director Nicole Turley, national people & culture director Leonie Kerley and national finance director David Gerrie.

Connaghan said: “The Ikon Sydney business has consistently performed at the very highest level and Dan’s leadership has been a strong contributing factor to this. It makes perfect sense, and is a natural progression for Dan, to take on a broader role across the Ikon brand and its expansion into new markets.

“This move has been made possible because of the proven depth and breadth of the leadership team at Ikon, and we are excited and confident about Ikon’s opportunity to keep growing fast on the back of unique and outstanding solutions for clients.”

An Ikon Advisory Board has also been set up, made up of Johns, Connaghan, Ikon founder Simon White and chief financial officer Simon Brock.

Meanwhile, Ikon has also confirmed its plans to move into the Brisbane market, via a partnership with sister agency Junior. While not being drawn on exact staff numbers, clients or a precise launch date, Johns told AdNews that he expects the agency will launch next month.

“There’s still a lot of things we have to work through. A lot of the details depend on conversations we’re having with clients at the moment.”

The move into Brisbane was confirmed less than a month after creative agency Banjo announced it was shutting its Queensland operation down.

Ikon has been having a successful run of late. This year, the agency has won accounts including Pfizer, NIB, Diageo, Video Ezy, and Red Cross Blood Service.
