On the one-year anniversary of its Community Funds program, Reddit has revealed that its funded 14 proposals - with 14 more being considered - and has dispursed $156,162 in funding to help Reddit community ideas and passions come to life.

The Community Funds program was announced last year, inviting communities, including Australian-based communities, to submit ideas for projects, events, contests, giving, or other initiatives that will bring people together for inspiration and delight.

In the 12 months since it was announced, Reddit has received 114 applications in total. Over 10 million redditors and six countries - including the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia - are represented across the 14 funded proposals.

Some of those community-driven projects supported so far include a local art exhibition in Brisbane, a r/bangtan community-designed K-pop billboard in Times Square, New York City and a Reddit-inspired r/NASCAR car at Talladega in the USA.

The Brisbane art exhibition, inspired by the r/Brisbane subreddit community, celebrated local artists and art that depicted ‘everything Brisbane’ at a Woolloongabba gallery in February. The exhibition was the first Australian recipient of funds from the Reddit Community Funds program.
