MELBOURNE: The Campaign Palace Melbourne managing director Tom Cooper, has parted company with the agency, following the loss of the $6 million Origin Energy account.

TCP executive chairman Mark Mackay confirmed the loss of Origin Energy was a key factor in Cooper's resignation. "We have been in discussion for some weeks, " said Mackay, "but the Origin decision has brought things to a head. Yes, he is a casualty of Origin."

Cooper's resignation follows that of The Campaign Palace national chief executive, Jacques Burger, who annnounced last week that he would be moving back to South Africa to join M&C Saatchi.

Both resignations come after Mackay, the former national chief executive, rejoined the agency in June as executive chairman, after leaving in 2008.

Mackay said he was grateful that Cooper had agreed to oversee the agency’s recent pitch for the Origin Energy business, but that both sides had agreed it was now time to move on.

Cooper became TCP managing director two and a half years ago, following a three-year stint at GPY&R Melbourne. Mackay will take over the running of the Melbourne agency. He is expected to announce a replacement for Burger in the coming weeks.
