NewsLifeMedia commercial director Zara Curtis has been appointed general manager of FremantleMedia Australia's content creation division, Spring.

The announcement comes in the wake of Tuesday's news, as revealed by AdNews, that Curtis had resigned from her post as commercial director with News Limited's magazine arm after two years in the role. She finished with NewsLifeMedia yesterday.

Curtis has almost 20 years experience in media, brand marketing, digital and advertising sales roles at companies including ACP Magazines, where she worked in senior sales roles for a decade.

“Zara’s track record in the media industry, and especially in the magazine sector, is second to none,” said Ian Hogg, FremantleMedia's regional chief executive for Australia and the Asia Pacific. “Her depth of experience in building and managing relationships with agencies and clients will be invaluable for Spring’s development, as will her flair as a future-thinker.”

Spring was launched by Fremantle in September 2011 to work with brands, agencies and broadcasters, producing content solutions including advertiser-funded projects and multi-platform iterations. Spring also works with the brand extension division of the company, FremantleMedia Enterprises.

“There is a huge demand for clever, quality and cost effective content that can run on multiple platforms in a media agnostic, audience-centric way,” Curtis said. “This is also a great time for brands and brand marketers as we see them take control of their digital content and reconnect with consumers through creative brand storytelling.

“I’m really excited about driving the multiple business models Spring can offer and working with Australia’s foremost TV producers, media agencies and media companies.”

Curtis begins at Spring in July.
