Facebook denies strategic alliance with Ten

Despite reports suggesting Facebook and Ten are in advanced talks regarding a commercial alliance, Facebook has denied the existence of any strategic tie-up.

It was reported over the weekend that both companies are in advanced talks to launch a commercial partnership which could allow Ten to enter the marketplace with a larger suite of media assets to sell to its clients.

However, Facebook has denied the existence of any special arrangements with Ten.

The company said: “We engage with Channel Ten about Facebook products such as Pages, advertising and the Open Graph in the same way we engage with numerous other organisations across Australia.

“We are not aware of special commercial arrangements negotiated with Channel Ten.”

AdNews understands the two companies have been involved in conversations for some weeks. However, it is also understood no alliance has been struck, and there are no guarantees of any deal.

A meeting between Ten and Facebook was scheduled for today.

Ten had not provided comment at the time of writing.
